Museum passes such as the Swiss Museum Pass are not valid for the Wednesday matinée
Getting there by public transport:
Take tram no. 2 (from Bahnhof SBB or Badischer Bahnhof) to the stop “Kunstmuseum” and then proceed by foot through St. Alban-Anlage and Rittergasse and across Münsterplatz until you reach the entrance of the museum at Münsterplatz 20.
By car:
On the motorway, take either the exit “Basel City” or “Badischer Bahnhof” and then follow the park guidance system to the nearest public car park in town.
Entrance
The main building and the museum courtyard are barrier-free and accessible by wheelchair.
Unfortunately, the annex (venue of the exhibition Basel Carnival and occasional events) is not accessible by wheelchair. In parts, the Museum Bistro Rollerhof is only accessible with support.
Available seating
Each floor of the main building offers a selection of lightweight folding chairs which can be used in the exhibition galleries.
Wheelchairs
A wheelchair is available in the main building for use on the premises.
Lift
The main building has a lift that provides access to all floors.
Toilets
The main building has a wheelchair-accessible toilet.
Induction loop
An induction loop is available for guided tours. Please ask at the ticket office.
Guided tours in sign language
Now and again, we offer guided tours in sign language. The respective dates are communicated in the calendar of events.
Guide and assistant dogs
Guide and assistant dogs are allowed inside the museum.
Exhibition texts
Exhibition texts are available for the various exhibitions in shape of handouts or as a PDF document on our website.
Road access and parking areas
Persons with restricted mobility may be taken to and from the museum by car at any time. However, this only applies to dropping off and picking up.
The nearest parking spaces for mobility-restricted visitors are next to the entrance of the Natural History Museum at Augustinergasse 2. With a valid permit, these can be used for a maximum of 3 hours.
