SUMMARY:\"Each case is different. Anthropological Provenance Research at
 the Museum der Kulturen Basel\"
DESCRIPTION:\n\nIn this roundtable discussion\, Anna Schmid\, Friedrich v
on Bose and Zainabu Jallo will discuss the implications of anthropologic
al provenance research. Provenance research involves much more than simp
ly tracing objects back to their origin: it opens up new perspectives on
single items as well as entire collections\, on their histories\, and t
he multifaceted relations inscribed in them. The Museum der Kulturen Bas
el is systematically investigating its collections with regard to their
coloniality\, a task that highlights how complex and challenging the wor
k of anthropological provenance research can be\, but also how essential
cooperation with people and communities in the Global South is. \n\nWit
